Down East Partnership for Children is hiring for a Communications and Development Coordinator see post for job description and application submission details.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to strengthen and advance DEPC’s brand.  Increase the visibility of programs and services across key stakeholder audiences; successfully communicate DEPC’s story and impact to enhance fund development; and develop campaigns and promotions to increase engagement amongst varied audiences.



POSITION:                     Communications and Development Coordinator

REPORTS TO:                Executive Director

CLASSIFICATION:        Non-exempt

HOURS PER WEEK:      20 Hours

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, mass media, or related field
  • At least 5-10 years of work experience and demonstrated success in a communications role
  • Writing and editing skills, including the ability to write for a variety of audiences and communication mediums
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to multi-task and set priorities, and comfortable with asking for help or reconsideration of priorities
  • Able to regularly evaluate DEPC’s communications
  • Flexible and able to work effectively under pressure and deadlines
  • Experience with using WordPress or other website content management system
  • Tech savvy and strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with an email marketing system (experience using Constant Contact a plus)
  • Experience using social media, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Proven print collateral design experience (preferably using an Adobe Creative Suite program)
  • Creative and resourceful
  • Demonstrate DEPC’s core values and work to help achieve DEPC’s mission
  • Develop positive relationships with volunteers, board members, community members and staff
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities, and work a flexible schedule
  • Experience working in a dynamic team environment
  • Fundraising experience preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License



  • Develop and implement marketing and communication plans that promote DEPC’s initiatives, programs, services and fundraising campaigns.
  • Write compelling content for annual report, press releases, internal and external newsletters, annual report, program collateral, development appeals, event materials, websites and other digital properties that showcases the DEPC’s mission
  • Manage website design and content development (using the WordPress content management system) for www.depc.org.
  • Design print collateral, including brochures, fact sheets, event invitations, web banners, social media shares and signage
  • Provide photography services for DEPC events and communication efforts
  • Coordinate media relations efforts to include writing and distributing news releases
  • Create, design and manage E-blasts using Constant Contact
  • Prepare presentations and speeches as needed
  • Develop social media plan and content
  • Integrate communication materials and ensure consistency in brand identity
  • Work with vendors, including website developers, graphic designers and print companies
  • Assist with special events, including developing event communications, promoting the event and taking photographs during the event


  • Attend DEPC staff meetings and retreats, which may include an out of town retreat
  • Responsible and accountable to the Executive Director for day-to-day activities
  • Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate by the Executive Director and the Research and Development Director


  • Four year degree OR equivalent education and experience



  • While performing this job, the employee is:

    • Periodically required to stand; walk, stoop, kneel
    • Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds
