Evidence-Based, Evidence-Informed Program for Parents

The Incredible Years (IY) Parenting Program is an evidenced-based program that fosters healthy development in young children by strengthening parenting skills and promoting children’s academic, social and emotional skills.

Offered 2 times per year (Fall and Spring) The Incredible Years Preschool program is for families who have children ages 3-5 (not yet enrolled in kindergarten).

The 16-week series is a good fit for parents who are struggling with their child’s negative and/or challenging behaviors and wish to learn strategies and skills to promote positive behaviors in their child.
Topics included in the Incredible Years Program include:
  • Child Directed Play
  • Praise
  • Household Rules
  • Positive Behavior Charts
  • Ignoring, Time Out and Logical and Natural Consequences
Group discussion, practices, video vignettes and home activities are all part of the program. Developmentally appropriate materials, such as games and books are distributed weekly so the participants can practice new skills learned. Gas cards and a monetary stipend will be available to parents who complete curriculum requirements.
A light dinner and childcare are also available at no cost to families who register and are accepted into the program.
