The Down East Partnership for Children, located in downtown Rocky Mount, at 215 Lexington Street, invites families and community organizations and groups to utilize its many resources, including public meeting rooms, Discovery Park, Indoor Play Space and Parent Information Center.

Meeting Space

DEPC provides a variety of meeting spaces that are available free of charge for organizations who are working collaboratively with Down East Partnership for Children toward its mission. A signed Facilities Agreement is required prior to use of meeting spaces.

Discovery Park

Our Discovery Park features natural learning areas, a village area, an earth play area, an oodle swing (as seen in photo), a play area for infants and toddlers, a stage and a variety of climbing equipment.

The park is open to the public from dawn to dusk, 7 days a week.

Bathroom facilities are available seasonally during the Family Resource Center’s operating hours.

Indoor Play Space

The Partnership also features Indoor Play space for children ages birth to five. One of the distinctive features of the play space is the rubberized, resilient floor covering that helps prevent serious injury to children. A two-story loft play area to promote dramatic play, as well as to develop gross motor skills is included. Free Play Fridays at the Indoor Play space happen every Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Parent Information Center

The Parent Information Center (PIC) is a resource center for parents, teachers, child care and other family service providers who want more information about children and parenting. The PIC is a comfortable place where individuals can find a wide variety of information through a variety of resources including books, videos, magazines and brochures.

The PIC is open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

For more information about the PIC or to schedule an appointment, call (252) 985-4300.
