Imagine the fun of receiving a free book for your child in the mail each month, building a library of books and a love for reading.
The Down East Partnership for Children and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library are working together to get books into the hands of our youngest children.

Active Reading is all about reading with a child rather than to a child. It focuses on the ABCs: Asking Questions, Building Vocabulary, and Connecting to the Child’s World. Active Reading helps build a child’s language, vocabulary and comprehension. It works with children 6 months old through 6th grade.

Reach Out And Read

Did you know that DEPC participates in the Reach Out and Read program? The purpose of Reach Out & Read is to connect medical providers and families with books for kids ages birth to 5 years! Children receive a book at each well visit up to age five! By providing families with books, children can get a head start on language and literacy skills. This prepares them for the school years ahead!
