Yesterday, G. W. Bulluck Elementary School hosted a broccoli promotion. The purpose of the broccoli promotion was to educate the children at Bulluck, grades K-5, on the health benefits of broccoli as well as teach them about how broccoli is grown and harvested. The promotion allowed the children to taste steamed broccoli at the promotion table and answer questions about broccoli for a prize. The children were given a chance to play a guessing game in which they had to guess how many raw broccoli florets were in a 20 oz glass jar. The children were excited about this event and the most rewarding outcome for school nutrition is that they were actually selecting broccoli when they went through the cafe line!
